Features of Ethical Organisation : There has been a lot of attention paid to ethics in business recently, with most of that focus on the lack of ethics. What has, however, been proven time and again, is that good, ethical behaviour reflects smart business practices.
The following are some features that should constitute the ethical bedrock of any organisation :
1.     Respect : As an entrepreneur or a manager building a business, you need to respect yourself and others, and surround yourself with people you can respect. Respect your colleagues, employees, customers, vendors and members of society.
2.     Integrity : Live up to your values and beliefs in whatever you do & surround yourself with people of high integrity. With integrity comes trust and trust helps an organization grow. Ensure that no one is selling the company’s values short to make a quick buck.
3.     Transparency : Be open and transparent with all stakeholders – have no hidden agendas.
4.     Fairness and Objectivity : Be fair in your dealings and objective in your judgments of employees and others.
5.     Factor Ethics into the Result-oriented approach : Do not aim for results at any cost – rather, work on achieving your results within the framework of company values. Results should be attained in the context of developing products and services that customers want and producing and delivering them at a price that I fair to all parties involved. Good managers support their employees to help them achieve their full potential while achieving results too. In an ethical organization, results are more than just numbers – they are benchmarks and lessons for the future as well as goals for the present.
6.     Passion : Create a passion in every employee so each one works for the thrill and challenge rather than a mere pay – check. Without passion as the fire within and the driving force, employees will put minimal effort, and not take responsibility for their actions.
7.     Communicate : Create an atmosphere of open communication in the organization. Ensure that you are able to effectively communicate the company’s vision, mission, and objectives to all stakeholders.
8.     Share your Wealth : Share your knowledge and money with others. Empower others who helped you become who you are today.; those who you are benefiting from in business and society. Show your sense of Corporate Social Responsibility.
