With an unbeaten century at SCG, Captain Virat Kohli has broken few records.
Captain Kohli scored his 10th test century on Day 3 of the final test against Australia.
Numerous records were broken by him on Day 3. And it goes like this…
The 26 year old became the second batsman to score 500+ runs in a test series against the Aussies.
With the score of 140* , Virat Kohli is the only cricketer in the world history to score centuries in the first three innings as a Captain of any side.
This also helped the young captain with the tally of 639 runs in the ongoing series.
With this, he also became the highest run getter in a test-series in Australia, surpassing Rahul Dravid’s record total of 619 runs.
Virat, who scored two centuries in Adelaide and one in Melbourne, joined English batsmen of the 1920s Wally Hammond and Herbert Sutcliffe as the only visiting players to score four centuries in a series in Australia.
He also shares the record of scoring four centuries in a series by an Indian batsman with Sunil Gavaskar. Sunny Sir has achieved this feat twice – in 1971 and 1978/79 both being against the Caribbeans.
It seems like the new Captain is very fond of breaking records. 😉
