The Central Government has decided to give 2 additional attempts to all categories of candidates with effect from Civil Services Examination 2014 conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) 2014 will be tentatively scheduled on 24th August 2014.
10 Interesting Informative Facts About Civil Service Examination:
- Civil Service Examinations is conducted by UPSC to select Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) etc.
- Civil Service Examination is conducted in 3 stages – preliminary, mains and interview.
- Candidates are allowed 6 attempts for Civil Service Examination.
- No restriction on number of attempts by candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes(STs).
- 7 Attempts are permitted to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
- Candidates who have completed 21 years but not completed 30 years can apply for Civil Services Examination.
- Candidates who belong to SC or ST categories can extend the maximum age to 35 years and OBC category can extend to 33 years.
- Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989 can extend their maximum age to 35.
- Candidates who are defence services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof can extend their maximum age to 33 years.
- Candidates who are blind, deaf-mute and orthopaedically handicapped candidates can extend their maximum age to 40 years.
